Preschool

Ages 3 – 4 years

Teacher to Child Ratio:

(3 years old) = 1:15
(4 years old) = 1:20

We follow the Florida State Guidelines for teacher to child ratio which is 1 teacher to 20 children (ages three and four years old).

CLASSROOMS & LEARNING ENVIRONMENT
Our Preschool 3-4 classrooms provide an engaging and hands-on learning experience for young children. Students learn through a balance of structured teacher-led activities and free play, fostering both creativity and cognitive development. A variety of hands-on projects keep children excited and engaged throughout the day, ensuring a fun and interactive learning environment.

ARRIVAL & TRANSITION

Drop-off time is an important transition for both parents and children. Teachers and parents communicate to share any updates or concerns, ensuring a smooth start to the day. Our staff helps each child feel welcomed and quickly involved in classroom activities to ease the separation process.

MEALS & SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT

Mealtimes provide opportunities for children to develop independence and social skills. Teachers sit with students during lunch and snack times, guiding them in using utensils, opening containers, and practicing table manners. Spills and messes are a natural part of learning, and we encourage children with patience and support as they master these skills.

NAP & REST TIME
Preschool 3-4 students typically nap for about two hours each afternoon. Every child has their own cot and sheet, and parents are welcome to send a small pillow, blanket, or comfort item to make rest time more relaxing. Teachers assist children in settling down for rest after a busy morning of activities.

TOILETING & INDEPENDENCE

By the time children enter our Preschool 3-4 program, they should be potty trained. Our child-sized toilets and sinks encourage independence and confidence in self-care. We understand that occasional accidents happen, and our staff supports children through these moments with patience and care. Parents are encouraged to send extra clothing, including socks and shoes, in case of accidents.

CURRICULUM & DEVELOPMENT
Our curriculum integrates various learning approaches, including creative play, literacy enrichment, sensory exploration, and hands-on activities. Through books, art, outdoor learning, and group projects, children develop early literacy skills, motor coordination, and problem-solving abilities. Each student builds a personal portfolio throughout the year, allowing parents to track their progress and celebrate milestones.

PICK-UP & END-OF-DAY COMMUNICATION

At the end of the day, teachers provide parents with updates on their child’s activities, progress, and interactions. This time helps parents stay informed and engaged in their child’s daily experiences at Learning Ladder Christian Preschool.
