Toddlers

Ages 13 – 24 months

Teacher to Child Ratio:

(13-24 months) = 1:6
(2 year olds) = 1:11

We follow the Florida State Guidelines for teacher to child ratios which is 1 teacher to 6 toddlers (1:6).

CLASSROOMS & ENVIRONMENT
At Learning Ladder Christian Preschool, our toddler program is designed to cater to children at different developmental stages. We have two classrooms, each with a maximum of 12 toddlers and a 1:6 teacher-to-student ratio. By grouping toddlers based on their developmental needs, we can better support their growth and independence.

DAILY ROUTINE & TRANSITIONS

Drop-off time can sometimes be emotional for toddlers as they are becoming more aware of separation from parents. Our teachers work closely with families to ensure a smooth transition by offering comfort and quickly involving children in engaging activities. At pick-up, teachers provide parents with updates on their child’s daily experiences, including meals, naps, and playtime.

MEALTIME & SELF-FEEDING SKILLS

As toddlers develop their motor skills, they begin exploring a variety of solid foods and practicing self-feeding. Teachers encourage children to sit at a table, use utensils, and drink from a sippy cup. Since this is a learning process, mealtimes can be messy, so we recommend parents provide extra changes of clothes and bibs.

REST & RELAXATION

Toddlers participate in a structured yet flexible daily schedule that includes rest time. Most children nap for two to two-and-a-half hours on individual cots, with sheets provided. Parents are welcome to send comfort items, such as a small pillow or blanket, to make nap time more restful. After an active morning, toddlers are usually ready to relax and recharge.

DIAPERING & POTTY TRAINING

Diapers are checked and changed regularly to maintain hygiene and comfort. Teachers interact with toddlers during diapering to encourage social and language development. For those beginning potty training, we work closely with parents to ensure a consistent approach. Our classrooms include child-sized toilets and sinks, making the transition from diapers to potty more accessible and comfortable. Parents receive notifications through our communication app about diaper changes and supply needs.

PLAY & LEARNING

At this stage, toddlers are naturally curious and learn best through hands-on experiences. Our classrooms provide opportunities for dramatic play, art exploration, block building, and early language development. Teachers guide children as they develop new skills, encouraging independence and confidence in a nurturing environment.
