Infants

Teacher to Child Ratio:
We follow the Florida State Guidelines for infant ratios which is 1 teacher per 4 infants (1:4).
CLASSROOMS
Learning Ladder Christian Preschool has two infant classrooms, each accommodating a maximum of 8 infants with a 1:4 teacher-to-student ratio. Our first classroom welcomes our youngest students, where they receive individualized care and attention. As babies grow and become more mobile, they transition to our second classroom. Both classrooms follow “Infant Care Plans,” completed by parents to communicate each child’s feeding and napping schedule.
ARRIVAL TIME
When infants arrive, parents and teachers will discuss any important updates or concerns to ensure a smooth transition. We understand that separation can sometimes be more challenging for parents than for babies. Rest assured, your child is in a safe, loving environment, receiving attentive care until you return.
EATING
Infants in our classrooms eat frequently, following their individual feeding schedules. Our teachers utilize baby sign language to help infants express when they are hungry. Teachers closely observe each child’s signs and cues to ensure they are fed before they become upset. During bottle feeding, infants are always held, fostering a bond between child and teacher. As they grow, older infants will begin transitioning to baby food and finger foods at the feeding table. Teachers will communicate with parents about each child’s nutritional needs and progress.
SLEEPING
Infants follow their own sleep schedules, and each child has a designated crib to minimize the spread of germs. Teachers engage with infants while they are awake and continuously monitor them while sleeping. Parents receive real-time updates on their child’s naps through our parent communication app. All infants are placed on their backs to sleep unless otherwise directed by a physician.
DIAPERING
Diapers are checked frequently and changed immediately when needed. Teachers interact with infants through singing and talking during diaper changes to support their development. After each diaper change, teachers wash both their hands and the infant’s hands while thoroughly sanitizing the diapering area. Parents receive real-time notifications via our communication app about diaper changes and reminders when supplies need to be replenished.
DEVELOPMENT
When infants are not sleeping or eating, they engage in activities that promote their cognitive, social, and language development. Teachers nurture learning through singing, reading, interactive play, and simple art projects. Our goal is to create a warm, stimulating environment where every infant can explore and grow.
PICK-UP TIME
At the end of the day, teachers provide parents with a summary of their child’s activities, meals, naps, and overall well-being. This transition time allows parents to stay informed and connected to their child’s daily experiences at Learning Ladder Christian Preschool.
